There was an upset when higher ranked Savona (7-8) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Matelica (6-9) 64-49 on Saturday. Argentinian point guard Debora Gonzalez (170-1990, agency: Players Group) scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Benedetta Gramaccioni (174-1998) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Matelica's coach Orazio Cutugno used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian center Hristina Tyutyundzhieva (190-1993) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and forward Sara Nezaj (182-2001) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Matelica moved-up to eleventh place in A2. Savona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Matelica will meet Nico Basket (#13) in the next round. Savona will play against Civitanova (#14) and hope to secure a win.
