Very expected game when 10th ranked Katarzynki (2-16) was rolled over on the road by fifth ranked Arka Gdynia (11-5) 94-47 on Saturday. Arka Gdynia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Katarzynki's 26. They outrebounded Katarzynki 48-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Arka Gdynia looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Katarzynki's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian swingman Alice Kunek (187-1991, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 assists and American forward Megan Gustafson (190-1996, college: Iowa) who added 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Arka Gdynia players scored in double figures. Arka Gdynia's coach Gundars Vetra felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Lucja Grzenkowicz (187-2000) responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Karolina Podkanska (180-1998) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Katarzynki lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Arka Gdynia will meet Poznan (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Katarzynki will play against Polonia W-wa and hope to secure a win.
