Regular Season Round 18: RSU - Kibirkstis 61-65

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Lithuanian Kibirkstis (17-2) beat 7th ranked Latvian RSU (7-8) in Riga 65-61 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 22-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Kibirkstis outrebounded RSU 44-25 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. French swingman Camille Droguet (178-1999) notched 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and center Gerda Raulusaityte (189-2004) supported her with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 11 points by forward Marta Leimane (178-2003) did not help to save the game for RSU. Guard Mara Mote (178-2000, college: Arizona) added 4 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending Lithuanian champion maintains second position with 17-2 record having just two points less than leader RSU 2. Loser RSU dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Latvija U16 and Jelgava. Kibirkstis will meet at home league's leader TTT Riga in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. RSU will play against Daugavpils Universitate (#10) and hope to secure a win.
