Regular Season Round 18: Liepaja/LSSS - Siauliu Siauliai 70-61

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Lithuanian Siauliu Siauliai (9-10) lost on the road to third ranked Latvian Liepaja/LSSS (13-6) 70-61 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Siauliu Siauliai won second period 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Siauliu Siauliai 52-32 including a 23-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Latvian guard Raivita Korenika (182-2001) notched a double-double by scoring 32 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Brazilian Maiara Pereira (185-2002, agency: Interperformances) supported her with 6 points and 13 rebounds. Even 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Ahyiona Vason (163-1997, college: UNCW) did not help to save the game for Siauliu Siauliai. Lithuanian forward Urte Bukauskaite (180-1994) added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Liepaja/LSSS maintains third position with 13-6 record having six points less than leader RSU 2. Siauliu Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. Liepaja/LSSS will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Siauliu Siauliai will play against the league's leader TTT Riga (#1) and hope to secure a win.
