Very expected game in Reykjavik where 5th ranked Keflavik (9-11) was defeated by first ranked Fjolnir (14-6) 99-83 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Fjolnir. Keflavik managed to win third quarter 33-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Fjolnir shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-1996, college: USC) who scored 25 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. The former international forward Dagny Davidsdottir (187-1997, college: Wyoming) chipped in 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Fjolnir's coach let to play all 12 players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Venezuelan Daniela Wallen (182-1995, college: Okla City) who recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Anna Svansdottir (175-2001) added 26 points respectively. Fjolnir maintains first place with 14-6 record, which they share with Valur and Njardvik. Loser Keflavik keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Fjolnir will meet Breidablik (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Keflavik will play against Skallagrimur in Borganes and hope to secure a win.
