Regular Season Round 18: H.Eilat - Maccabi T-A 66-77

Date: February 20, 2022
Very expected game when 9th ranked Hapoel Eilat (7-10) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Maccabi Tel-Aviv (10-6) 77-66 on Sunday. Maccabi Tel-Aviv made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Ante Zizic (209-1997, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard John DiBartolomeo (183-1991, college: Rochester) chipped in 15 points. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Maccabi Tel-Aviv's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Bryon Allen (192-1992, college: GMU) who recorded 20 points and his fellow American import point guard Toney Douglas (189-1986, college: FSU) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Bnei Hertzeliya. Loser Hapoel Eilat keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Maccabi Tel-Aviv will meet at home bottom-ranked Maccabi Rishon (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Eilat will play against Galil Elion in Kfar Blum and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
