Regular Season Round 18: H.Haifa - Bnei Hertzeliya 81-80

Round 18 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Bnei Hasharon (10-6). They were edged by fifth ranked Hapoel Haifa (9-7) 81-80 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bnei Hasharon. The former international swingman Amit Simhon (198-1989, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 12 points and 8 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Chinanu Onuaku (207-1996, college: Louisville) with 16 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import Chris Babb (196-1990, college: Iowa St.) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Five Hapoel Haifa and four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Haifa maintains fifth position with 9-7 record, which they share with H.Tel-Aviv. Bnei Hasharon at the other side dropped to the second place with six games lost. They share the position with Maccabi T-A. They were replaced at the leadership position by H.Jerusalem. Bnei Hasharon will play next round against league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Hapoel Haifa will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Hapoel Holon on the road.
