Very expected game when 7th ranked Lublin 2 (12-11) was defeated at home by third ranked Gornik (18-6) 91-81 on Sunday. Gornik outrebounded Lublin 2 50-31 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-1993) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Hubert Pabian (201-1989) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds. Gornik's coach Lukasz Grudniewski used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Bartosz Ciechocinski (203-1991) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Karol Obarek (194-1993) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gornik maintains third place with 18-6 record behind leader Lancut. Newly promoted Lublin 2 keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Gornik will meet at home AZS PO (#4) in the next round. Lublin 2 will play against the league's second-placed Kotwica in Kolobrzeg and hope to secure a win.
