Regular Season Round 19: Cartagena - Sant Antoni 61-72

Everything went according to plan when third ranked Sant Antoni (13-5) defeated on the road 6th ranked Cartagena (10-8) 72-61 on Sunday. Sant Antoni dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Cartagena's 20 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Cartagena 44-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Lithuanian center Tautvydas Slezas (207-1990) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Jordi Grimau (196-1983) accounted for 17 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winning side. Sant Antoni's coach Carlos Flores used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-1996, college: Findlay, OH) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and guard Victor Aguilar (185-1998) added 16 points and 4 steals respectively for Cartagena in the defeat. Newly promoted Sant Antoni maintains third place in Silver with 13-5 record behind leader Ourense. Cartagena at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Sant Antoni will meet at home Valencia 2 (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cartagena will play against the league's second-placed Albacete (#2) and hope to secure a win.
