Regular Season Round 19: Melilla - De La Torre 77-67

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Melilla (9-8) defeated at home 14th ranked De La Torre (3-16) 77-67 on Sunday. Melilla made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 De La Torre turnovers and outrebounded them 34-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for swingman Ana Garcia (175-2000) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Mali Aminata Traore (-2000) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Melilla players scored in double figures. At the losing side Paula Moreno (-2000) responded with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and Carmen Ramirez (-2002) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Melilla. They moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Cordoba. Newly promoted De La Torre keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Melilla will meet higher ranked Adareva (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. De La Torre will play against the league's leader Almeria (#1) and hope to secure a win.
