Regular Season Round 18: Olimpia - Brest 99-45

There was no surprise in Grodno where 8th ranked Brest (1-16) was crushed by third ranked Olimpia (13-3) 99-45 on Sunday. The game without a history. Olimpia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Brest to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Olimpia forced 25 Brest turnovers and outrebounded them 56-36 including a 26-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Brest's players. Guard Anastasia Sushchik (160-1997) scored 12 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Palina Damianiak (190-2005) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Five Olimpia players scored in double figures. Olimpia's coach Yuri Chernyak felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Anastasia Babak (180-2002) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and forward Daria Balaker (163-2002) scored 13 points. Olimpia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-3 record having just three points less than leader Gorizont. Brest lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Olimpia will meet league's second-placed Tsmoki-Minsk on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brest will play against Victoria (#4) and hope to win that game.
