There was no surprise when 4th ranked Salerno (13-7) was defeated at home by first ranked Agrigento (17-2) 80-74 on Sunday. Agrigento outrebounded Salerno 34-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Andrea Lo Biondo (206-1998, college: Winona St.) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian forward Albano Chiarastella (195-1985, agency: BIG) chipped in 7 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Point guard Mattia Coltro (184-1997) produced 13 points and 5 assists and center Leonardo Marini (205-1995) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Agrigento maintains first position in B with 17-2 record. Loser Salerno keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Agrigento will meet at home Monopoli AN (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Salerno will play against Avellino (#15) and hope to secure a win.
