No shocking result in a game in Warszawa where fifth ranked AZS UW (11-9) outleveled 12th ranked GTK 2 (5-15) 83-57 on Wednesday. AZS UW dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to GTK 2's 34 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. AZS UW forced 19 GTK 2 turnovers and outrebounded them 47-25 including a 34-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was center Justyna Kowalska (185-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Power forward Maria Wybraniec (184-2000) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Natalia Baruch (180-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Agata Gilmajster (171-2004) added 19 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS UW maintains fifth position with 11-9 record, which they share with Sokolow P. GTK 2 lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth place with 15 games lost. AZS UW will meet higher ranked Pabianice (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. GTK 2 will play against the league's second-placed AZS UG (#2) in Gdansk and hope to secure a win.
