Regular Season Round 21: Breidablik - Haukar 57-96

Rather predictable result in Kopavogur where fourth ranked Haukar (11-7) smashed 6th ranked Breidablik (7-13) 96-57 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 21 Breidablik turnovers and outrebounded them 50-38 including 16 on the offensive glass. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Breidablik's players. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (186-1988, college: TCU) who scored 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. International swingman Briet Hinriksdottir (174-1996) chipped in 18 points. Haukar's coach Bjarni Magnusson felt very confident using 11 players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Thordis Kristjansdottir (170-1999) who recorded 19 points and forward Birgit Snorradottir (185-2000) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Haukar maintains fourth place with 11-7 record. Loser Breidablik keeps the sixth position with 13 games lost. Haukar will meet league's leader Njardvik on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Breidablik will play against the league's second-placed Fjolnir (#2) and hope to secure a win.
