Regular Season Round 21: Faenza - Lucca 84-89

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Faenza (5-15) lost at home to fourth ranked Lucca (15-6) 89-84 on Thursday. Lucca made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Lucca especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. American guard Sydney Wiese (183-1995, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) nailed 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import point guard Blake Dietrick (178-1993, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Four Lucca players scored in double figures. Point guard Rosa Cupido (166-1992) came up with 25 points and 4 assists and Nigerian forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) added 9 points and 18 rebounds respectively for Faenza in the defeat. Faenza's coach Diego Sguaizer let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lucca moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Faenza dropped to the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Lucca will meet at home league's second-placed Bologna in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Faenza will play against Sassari (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
