D1 top team - Haukar (19-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Skallagrimur (8-13) in Borganes 111-79. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 36 assists. Spanish point guard Jose Medina (185-1993) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 15 assists to lead the effort and American guard Jeremy Smith (190-1991, college: Nicholls St.) supported him with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Haukar's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 8 rebounds by Bosnian center Simun Kovac (203-1996, college: Concord) did not help to save the game for Skallagrimur. Point guard Olafur Sigurjonsson (181-1999) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Haukar have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-2 record. Skallagrimur lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Haukar will play against Hrunamenn (#8) in Fludir in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Skallagrimur will play on the road against the league's second-placed Hottur in Egilsstadir and hopes to get back on the winning track.
