Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Genero (3-12) lost to fifth ranked Melilla (10-9) in Las Palmas 73-82 on Saturday. Melilla made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Melilla especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The winners were led by Mali Aminata Traore (-2000) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds and Serbian power forward Bojana Stevanovic (180-1996) supported her with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Melilla players scored in double figures. Even 8 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists by Bolivian point guard Romina Rodriguez (167-1992) did not help to save the game for Genero. Argentinian-Italian forward Magali Vilches (182-2002) added 17 points for the hosts. Melilla have an impressive six-game winning streak. Despite that victory Melilla went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Genero keeps the twelfth place with 12 games lost. Melilla will meet at home league's leader Arxil in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Genero will play against Almeria (#3) and hope to secure a win.
