No shocking result in a game when third ranked Venezia (14-2) beat on the road 10th ranked Sassari (7-12) 90-82 on Saturday. Venezia made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Sassari turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American-Serbian guard Yvonne Anderson (170-1990, college: Texas) nailed a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists for the winning side and American forward Kayla Thornton (185-1992, college: UTEP) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Venezia players scored in double figures. American forward Jessica Shepard (193-1996, college: Notre Dame) came up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Maggie Lucas (178-1991, college: Penn St.) added 24 points and 9 assists respectively for Sassari in the defeat. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Venezia. Despite that victory Venezia went down to fourth position due to points difference. Loser Sassari keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Venezia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sassari will play against Faenza (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
