There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Brest (2-16) beat at home 4th placed Victoria (9-10) 77-67 on Sunday. The game without a history. Brest led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 30 Victoria turnovers. Strangely Victoria outrebounded Brest 51-26 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for guard Maria Rafalovich (170-2001) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 4 steals. Forward Daria Balaker (163-2002) accounted for 9 points, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winning side. Forward Irina Kravchenko (183-2001) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and guard Aleksandra Polubok (154-2006) added 15 points and 4 steals respectively for Victoria in the defeat. Victoria's coach Viktoryia Datsun let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Brest maintains eighth place with 2-16 record. Victoria lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Brest will meet at home higher ranked Gomel (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Victoria's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Grodno to the arena Olimpia.
