Regular Season Round 19: Pyrinto Ak.B - Kataja Ta. 86-58

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tampere where 6th ranked Kataja Ta. (3-9) was outplayed by seventh ranked Pyrinto Ak.B (3-8) 86-58 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Pyrinto Ak.B. Kataja Ta. managed to win fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pyrinto Ak.B dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Kataja Ta.'s 24. Pyrinto Ak.B forced 22 Kataja Ta. turnovers and outrebounded them 42-22 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Pyrinto Ak.B looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Davon Clare (198, college: CS Fullerton) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Tuomas Heikkila (200-1999) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds. Pyrinto Ak.B's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side center Miika Smolander (201-2003) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and swingman Samu Ruskio (195-1996) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Pyrinto Ak.B maintains seventh place in 1st Division with 3-8 record. Newly promoted Kataja Ta. keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Pyrinto Ak.B's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tampere to the arena Raholan P..
