There was a minor upset when 6th ranked H.Afula (13-10) was outplayed on the road by ninth ranked M.Raanana (11-11) 91-69 on Tuesday. M.Raanana looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American power forward Brandon Sherrod (198-1992, college: Yale) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Yahel Melamed (199-2001) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Guy Dotan (178-1991) responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Alon Sapir (201-1994) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. M.Raanana moved-up to eighth place, which they share with E.Netanya. Loser H.Afula keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. M.Raanana will meet higher ranked I.Ramat Gan (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. H.Afula will play against the league's leader I.Nahariya having rather not much hope for a victory.
