Date: March 1, 2022
Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked HBA-Marsky (11-9) defeated 12th ranked MuKi (3-16) in Helsinki 79-70 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MuKi won third quarter 21-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. HBA-Marsky dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to MuKi's 24. They outrebounded MuKi 50-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by swingman Okku Federiko (194-2004) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and center Gezim Bajrami (207-2003) supported him with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four HBA-Marsky players scored in double figures. HBA-Marsky's coach Juha Sten used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by point guard Markus Rautasalo (180-2000) did not help to save the game for MuKi. Point guard Joonas Timonen (189-2000) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the hosts. Despite that victory HBA-Marsky went down to sixth position (1st Division) due to points difference. Loser MuKi keeps the twelfth place with 16 games lost. HBA-Marsky will meet Kouvot Ak. (#9) in the next round. MuKi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Helsinki ToPo Juniorit.
