There was an upset when higher ranked Granada (16-8) was smashed by ninth ranked Celta Zorka (11-12) in Vigo 83-56 on Tuesday. Celta Zorka made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Celta Zorka outrebounded Granada 43-30 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Maggie Mulligan (189-1995, college: UMass) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Haitian swingman Jessica Fequiere (180-1993, college: Albany) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Celta Zorka players scored in double figures. Celta Zorka's coach Cristina Cantero felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Belgian forward Heleen Nauwelaers (180-1996) came up with 15 points and Argentinian Andrea Boquete (183-1990) added 14 points respectively for Granada in the defeat. Celta Zorka maintains ninth place with 11-12 record. Granada lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Celta Zorka will meet at home higher ranked Zamarat (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Granada will play against Lima-Horta and hope to secure a win.
