No shocking result in a game in Akureyri where second ranked Thor Thorl (14-4) defeated bottom-ranked Thor AK (1-16) 95-88 on Friday. Thor AK was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Spanish-Argentinian guard Luciano Massarelli (183-1993) scored 27 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Danish forward Daniel Mortensen (204-1994, college: Barry) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Danish point guard August Haas (188-1997, college: St.Edward's) with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and Baldur Johannesson (195-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Thor AK players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Thor Thorl have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Thor AK lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Thor Thorl will meet at home Valur (#4) in the next round.
