The game had a very big importance for second-ranked TSU as it allowed them to take a leadership position. TSU defeated 7th ranked Rustavi in Tbilisi 78-73. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 26-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. TSU outrebounded Rustavi 50-32 including a 39-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Rustavi helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Ryle Owens (192-1997, college: Young Harris) helped adding 18 points. Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was point guard Luwane Pipkins (180-1996, college: Providence) with 21 points and forward Ishmael Hollis (203-1992, college: N.Georgia) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Rustavi's coach Anatoli Boisa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. TSU have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending champion Rustavi keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Mega. Rustavi will play next round against Mega trying to get back on the winning streak. TSU will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Kutaisi on the road.
