Regular Season Round 23: Hottur - Skallagrimur 104-85

Very expected game in Egilsstadir where 7th ranked Skallagrimur (9-14) was rolled over by second ranked Hottur (19-3) 104-85 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hottur. Skallagrimur managed to win second period 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game, while Skallagrimur only scored eleven points from the stripe. It was a great evening for American guard Tim Guers (190-1996, college: St.Anselm) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Spanish point guard Arturo Fernandez (182-1990) helped adding 25 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). American forward Bryan Battle (196-1999, college: FHU, agency: IceBasket) responded with 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Bosnian center Simun Kovac (203-1996, college: Concord) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Hottur. They maintain second place with 19-3 record behind leader Haukar. Loser Skallagrimur keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Hottur will meet at home bottom-ranked IA (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Skallagrimur will play against Hrunamenn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
