Rather expected game in Kouvola where 5th ranked Vimpelin Veto (10-13) was crushed by third ranked Kouvottaret (15-8) 88-65 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kouvottaret led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Vimpelin Veto's 28. Kouvottaret forced 23 Vimpelin Veto turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Taeler Deer (165-1996, college: Texas St.) who scored 21 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Canadian forward Rashida Timbilla (185-1992, college: UMass) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Kouvottaret players scored in double figures. Kouvottaret's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kym Royster (188-1997, college: Indiana, agency: Green Sports Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and Serbian center Anastasija Podunavac (185-1997, agency: BIG) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Kouvottaret have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with ToPo. Vimpelin Veto lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 13 games lost. Kouvottaret will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vimpelin Veto will play against Torpan Pojat (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
