Very predictable result when first ranked Albacete (15-5) defeated at home 6th ranked Cartagena (10-9) 76-63 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was guard Jorge Mejias (188-2001, college: TAMIU) who scored 19 points and 5 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Guard Gerard Blat (185-1997) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Martyce Kimbrough (185-1996, college: Findlay, OH) produced 17 points and 4 assists and guard Victor Aguilar (185-1998) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Albacete maintains first position in Silver with 15-5 record. Newly promoted Cartagena dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Albacete will meet Valencia 2 (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cartagena will play against Alginet (#10) and hope to secure a win.
