Regular Season Round 23: L'Alcora - Alginet B 97-98

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when second-ranked L'Alcora (3-2) was edged at home by third ranked Alginet B (4-2) 98-97 on Saturday. It was a key game for the second position in Group EDesc1. Alginet B made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by L'Alcora's players. It was an exceptional evening for Victor Pelufo (-2003) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Ivan Lerin (187-2001) accounted for 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Forward Juan Robles (194-1996) came up with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and center Alfonso Ribera (202-2001) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively for L'Alcora in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Alginet B moved-up to second place in Group EDesc1. Loser L'Alcora dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Carolinas and Sueca. Alginet B will meet at home Sueca (#5) in the next round. L'Alcora will play against the league's leader Archena in Murcia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
