Regular Season Round 21: Castello - Segle XXI 67-62

There was a change at the LF2 leadership position after last games. Round 21 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Segle XXI (17-4). They were defeated by third ranked Castello (16-4) 67-62 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Segle XXI. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was a great shooting night for Castello especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Angolan-Portuguese power forward Artemis Afonso (175-1993) stepped up and scored 12 points for the winners and point guard Clara Caceres (167-1997) chipped in 4 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Castello players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Elena Buenavida (174-2004) with 17 points and 4 assists and center Ariadna Termis (197-2005) scored 12 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Castello have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Arxil. Segle XXI at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Viladecans. Segle XXI will play next round against league's leader Viladecans trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Castello will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Girona on the road.
