Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Azulejos (6-14) was edged at home by fourth ranked Girona (14-5) 51-50 on Saturday. Girona outrebounded Azulejos 40-22 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Vanessa Gonzalez (184-1994) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. French guard Faustine Parra (165-2000) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Eva Lacort (175-1989) who recorded 11 points and 7 assists and Ana Relancio (-2001) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Girona maintains fourth place with 14-5 record, which they share with Unicaja. Loser Azulejos keeps the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Girona will meet at home higher ranked Castello (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azulejos will play against Mataro (#9) and hope to secure a win.
