There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Sassari (7-12) was edged on the road by twelfth ranked Faenza (5-15) 62-61 on Saturday. Nigerian forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern, agency: LBM Management) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Lucia Morsiani (186-1992) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Faenza's coach Diego Sguaizer used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward Jessica Shepard (193-1996, college: Notre Dame) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Marida Orazzo (175-1994, agency: LBM Management) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Faenza moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Sassari keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Faenza will meet higher ranked Ragusa (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sassari will play against Lucca (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
