Regular Season Round 22: Liepaja/LSSS - Daugavpils 75-48

One of the most interesting games of round 22 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Fourth ranked Liepaja/LSSS outleveled visiting Daugavpils Universitate (4-16) 75-48. The game without a history. Liepaja/LSSS led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Daugavpils Universitate's 24. Liepaja/LSSS forced 28 Daugavpils Universitate turnovers. Latvian guard Raivita Korenika (182-2001) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and Brazilian Maiara Pereira (185-2002, agency: Interperformances) supported her with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Liepaja/LSSS players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by Latvian center Valerija Baranovska (177-2003) did not help to save the game for Daugavpils Universitate. Center Inga Voronko (185-1990) added 4 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Daugavpils Universitate's coach already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Liepaja/LSSS maintains fourth position with 15-6 record. Loser Daugavpils Universitate keeps the tenth place with 16 games lost. Liepaja/LSSS will meet at home RSU (#6) in the next round. Daugavpils Universitate will play against RSU (#6) in Riga and hope to secure a win.
