Regular Season Round 22: Tallina U. - RSU 70-78

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Latvian RSU (11-10) won against 8th ranked Estonian Tallina U. (9-12) in Tallinn 78-70 on Saturday. Tallina U. trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 17-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-78 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Tallina U. 51-34 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. RSU looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Mara Mote (178-2000, college: Arizona) notched 15 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and Latvian Alise Bruzinska (176-1997) supported her with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four RSU players scored in double figures. RSU's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points and 8 assists by guard Merike Anderson (180-1981) did not help to save the game for Tallina U.. Power forward Laina Mesila-Kaarmann (186-1987) added 20 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. RSU have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 11-10 record. Loser Tallina U. keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with TalTech. RSU will meet at home Daugavpils Universitate (#10) in the next round. Tallina U. will have a break next round.
