Regular Season Round 23: Begastri - Calpe 78-77

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Begastri (3-3) edged 8th ranked Calpe (1-5) in Cehegin 78-77 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Begastri made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Jose Fernandez (200-1978) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Jose Alberto Exposito (193-1986) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Four Begastri players scored in double figures. Begastri's coach Sergio Fernandez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Destiny Olu came up with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Jordi Jarque (-2002) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Calpe in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Begastri. They maintain fourth place in Group EDesc2 with 3-3 record, which they share with Molina. Loser Calpe keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Begastri will meet Godella (#7) in the next round. Calpe will play against Aldaia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
