Regular Season Round 20: Karkkila - Kipina 106-100

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kipina (8-4) against fifth ranked Karkkila (7-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Kipina was defeated by Karkkila in a tough game in Karkkila 100-106. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Strangely Kipina outrebounded Karkkila 46-32 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Kipina's players. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Eemeli Laaksonen (186-2000) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and Canadian forward Jake Newman (198-1994, college: Victoria) who added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Newman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American center Ricardo Glenn (203-1990, college: USC Upstate, agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 27 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import guard Josh McFolley (185-1997, college: Detroit) scored 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Five Karkkila and four Kipina players scored in double figures. Karkkila maintains fifth position in 1st Division with 7-6 record. Newly promoted Kipina keeps the second place with four games lost. Karkkila will play against league's leader PuHu Juniorit in Vantaa in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Kipina will play on the road against Pyrinto Ak.B in Tampere and hopes to get back on the winning track.
