Regular Season Round 23: Picken Claret - Gandia 73-86

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Picken Claret (1-5) lost to first ranked Gandia (5-1) in Valencia 73-86 on Sunday. Gandia had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Unai Zamora (193-2001) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Center Alejandro Vera (202-1997) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Four Gandia players scored in double figures. Javier Lazaro (-1997) came up with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Francisco Climent (-2002) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively for Picken Claret in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gandia. They maintain first place in Group Eclasif with 5-1 record, which they share with Murcia 2. Loser Picken Claret keeps the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Esportiu. Gandia will meet at home Lliria (#5) in the next round. Picken Claret will play against Esportiu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
