Rather expected game when 13th ranked Univ.Valladolid (8-14) lost at home to eleventh ranked Gijon Basket (10-12) 71-63 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for forward Diego Sanchez (198-1978) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Belgian forward Benjamin Janssens (197-1998, agency: Promo Sport ID) accounted for 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Gijon Basket players scored in double figures. Ignacio Sierra (196-1997) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and forward Alberto Garcia (196-1999) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Univ.Valladolid in the defeat. Univ.Valladolid's coach Domingo Cano rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gijon Basket moved-up to eighth place in Group A-B. Univ.Valladolid at the other side stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Gijon Basket will meet at home league's leader La Antigua in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Univ.Valladolid will play against Ourense (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
