Regular Season Round 23: Corazon - Badajoz 92-61

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Corazon as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group D-B. Corazon smashed 7th ranked Badajoz in Caceres 92-61. Corazon dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Badajoz's 32. Corazon forced 19 Badajoz turnovers and outrebounded them 46-26 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Greek power forward Andreas Tsoumanis (202-2001) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Mario Linde (185-2002) helped adding 26 points. Four Corazon players scored in double figures. Corazon's coach Juan Pablo Marquez felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Markos Baknal responded with 20 points and 4 assists and Gabriel Perez (-2002) scored 11 points. Corazon (16-3) have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Huelva CD. Badajoz lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Badajoz will play next round against Xerez trying to get back on the winning streak. Corazon will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Cimbis on the road.
