Regular Season Round 20: Kristika Turku - HBA-Marsky 96-84

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Kristika Turku (11-8) defeated 4th ranked HBA-Marsky (11-9) in Turun 96-84 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kristika Turku. HBA-Marsky managed to win third quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kristika Turku won last quarter 34-21. They made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Kristika Turku had a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The winners were led by power forward Mikael Aalto (205-1994) who scored that evening 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and swingman Teemu Sulonen (188-1994) supported him with 23 points. Four Kristika Turku players scored in double figures. Kristika Turku's coach Juha Ruohonen used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 38 points (!!!) and 6 assists by the former international guard Miro Little (196-2004) did not help to save the game for HBA-Marsky. Swingman Okku Federiko (194-2004) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Kristika Turku moved-up to fourth place in 1st Division. Loser HBA-Marsky dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Kristika Turku will meet at home Huima (#7) in the next round. HBA-Marsky will play against Kouvot Ak. in Kouvola and hope to secure a win.
