The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked San Martino's (10-10) road loss to fifth ranked Ragusa (12-7) 57-78 on Sunday. Ragusa outrebounded San Martino 47-33 including a 37-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Asia Taylor (188-1991, college: Louisville) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and Finnish-Egyptian center Awak Kuier (195-2001) chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Ragusa players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Chelsea Mitchell (175-1997, college: Morgan St.) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ragusa maintains fifth position with 12-7 record. San Martino lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Ragusa will meet at home Faenza (#11) in the next round where they are favorite. San Martino will play against Costa Masnaga (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
