Regular Season Round 20: Fabriano - Scafati 82-83

Fourteenth-ranked Fabriano (3-18) gave a tough game to first ranked Scafati (17-4) on Sunday. The visitors from Scafati managed to secure only one-point victory 83-82. However their fans expected much easier game. Scafati made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Fabriano helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Diego Monaldi (185-1993) who helped to win the game recording 24 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and American power forward Ed Daniel (202-1990, college: Murray St.) who added 13 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Scafati's coach Alessandro Rossi used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American Arik Smith (185-1993, college: Cal Lutheran, agency: Players Group) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-1988, college: GWU) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Scafati and five Fabriano players scored in double figures. Scafati maintains first position in A2 with 17-4 record. Newly promoted Fabriano keeps the fourteenth place with 18 games lost. Scafati are looking forward to face league's second-placed Verona on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fabriano will play against Cento (#6) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
