The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Rishon LZ as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rishon LZ defeated their biggest opponent Ashdod in Rishon Le-Zion 79-72. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Rishon LZ made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. American guard Jennie Simms (183-1994, college: ODU) stepped up and scored 30 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and international forward Eden Zipel (183-2002) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American center Kelsey Bone (193-1991, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Allison Hightower (178-1988, college: LSU) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (made all of her seven free throws). Rishon LZ have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with M.Haifa. Ashdod at the other side dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Ashdod will play next round against Petah Tikva trying to get back on the winning streak. Rishon LZ will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Ramla on the road.
