Regular Season Round 16: Batumi - Vera 77-63

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Vera (9-5) against fifth ranked Batumi (7-6) on Tuesday night. Visiting Vera was defeated by Batumi in Batumi 77-63. The game was mostly controlled by Batumi. Vera was better in third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Vera 58-43 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Stewart Deangelo (196-1995, college: PFW) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import guard Kyle Riddley (192-1996, college: Pfeiffer) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Batumi players scored in double figures. American forward Zac Seljaas (202-1997, college: BYU) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and guard Davit Tsivtsivadze (190-1997) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Vera. Batumi maintains fifth position with 7-6 record. Vera at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. Batumi will play against league's leader TSU in Tbilisi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vera's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Tskhum-Abkhazeti.
