Regular Season Round 24: Gernika - Clarinos 67-72

There was an upset when higher ranked Gernika (10-11) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Clarinos (6-17) 72-67 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was Slovakian power forward Zofia Hruscakova (190-1995) who scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Theresa Plaisance (196-1992, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Clarinos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Angie Bjorklund (183-1989, college: Tennessee) who recorded 14 points and Bosnian Melisa Brcaninovic (193-1999, agency: BeoBasket) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Clarinos moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Leganes. Loser Gernika dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Estudiantes. Clarinos will meet higher ranked Promete (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gernika will play against Araski in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hope to secure a win.
