Regular Season Round 21: PuHu Juniorit - HyPo 81-75

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of HyPo (9-3) in Vantaa on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by PuHu Juniorit (9-4) 81-75. It was a key game for the top position in 1st Division. HyPo trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 20-11 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 75-81 at the end of the game. Oskari Rantala (188-2000) stepped up and scored 13 points and 5 assists for the winners and forward Thomas Ronnholm (197-2003) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. PuHu Juniorit's coach Mikko Larkas used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Chris Barton (189-1996, college: Niagara) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds and power forward Toni Honka (193-1984) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Four HyPo players scored in double figures. PuHu Juniorit maintains first place in 1st Division with 9-4 record which they share with defeated HyPo. HyPo at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. PuHu Juniorit are looking forward to face LrNMKY (#4) in Lappeenranta in the next round. HyPo will play at home against the league's second-placed Kipina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
