Winner League top team - Hapoel Jerusalem (13-6) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they beat fifth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (10-9) 94-76. They outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 39-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Hapoel Jerusalem looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The winners were led by Nigerian Suleiman Braimoh (203-1989, college: Rice) who scored that evening 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Nigerian center John Egbunu (211-1994, college: Florida) supported him with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Even 21 points and 6 rebounds by American swingman James Young (198-1995, college: Kentucky) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Cameroonian-American forward JP Tokoto (200-1993, college: UNC) added 13 points and 5 assists for the guests. Five Hapoel Jerusalem and four Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hapoel Jerusalem have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-6 record. Loser Hapoel Tel-Aviv dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. Hapoel Jerusalem will meet at home Ironi Nes-Ziona (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Hapoel Haifa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
