Regular Season Round 27: Handlova - Prievidza 75-79

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Handlova (9-17) was defeated at home by bottom-ranked Prievidza (5-21) 79-75 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was international Matej Majercak (188-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 assists. Canadian forward Alonzo Walker (198-1996, college: Portland St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Deandre Abram (203-1997, college: Milwaukee) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Michal Cekovsky (211-1994, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) added 23 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Handlova's coach Danilo Rakocevic tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Prievidza maintains eighth place with 5-21 record. Handlova lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 17 games lost. Prievidza will meet at home higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against Iskra Svit and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
