There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (9-9) won against 6th ranked Galil Elion (9-9) in Nes Ziyona 100-82 on Friday. Ironi Nes-Ziona made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. The winners were led by the former international Golan Gutt (195-1994) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Frank Bartley IV (191-1994, college: La-Lafayette, agency: BeoBasket) supported him with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bartley IV is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists by international Nimrod Levi (208-1995) did not help to save the game for Galil Elion. American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (195-1993, college: Marist, agency: BeoBasket) added 17 points and 6 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to seventh place, which they share with H.Galil Elion. Ironi Nes-Ziona will meet league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Galil Elion will play against Maccabi Tel-Aviv (#3) and hope to secure a win.
