Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Breidablik (8-11) won against bottom-ranked Thor AK (1-18) in Akureyri 116-109 on Friday. The guests trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 68-51 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Breidablik looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Everage Richardson (191-1985, college: Coastal) who led the winners and scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Danero Thomas (194-1986, college: Murray St.) accounted for 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Danish point guard August Haas (188-1997, college: St.Edward's) came up with 26 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals and guard Ragnar Agustsson (194-2001) added 24 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) respectively for Thor AK in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Breidablik maintains ninth place with 8-11 record. Thor AK lost their eighth game in a row. They stay dead last with 18 lost games. Breidablik will meet at home Vestri (#11) in the next round. Thor AK will play against Valur in Reykjavik and hope to win that game.
